Good Crazy

So, the temp position is over, and my time is utterly my own until the next job is found. I'm hoping to find something that shares the good points with my old hotel job--most notably the tendency toward paid internet-puttering and hobby-pursuing. Even better if I can land one with my old shift.

Mind you, this last gig had some good points--most notably the pay--but... to be honest, I'm a little glad it's over. My co-workers were a bit too conservative and gossipy for my tastes, and there were times when spending an entire day surrounded by them could be annoying. If I can get a job like my old one, I will likely only have to deal with co-workers for ten minutes to a half hour every day, then be left to my own devices.

[livejournal.com profile] branadain and R came to visit this weekend, and it was nice to see them again. We went out for Japanese, one evening, then Saturday I drove us to Chicago, and we walked around Grant Park, had ice cream and went to the Art Institute. I was leery of taking pics of the paintings, but I did get some pretty sculptures.

Here there be piccies )

After the museum, we had dinner at a little cafe called Cosi, and then walked over to the art supply store nearby, where they had the fanciest wrapping paper ever sold in individual poster-sized segments. One of the many kinds they had was thick as parchment and had a big phrenology head printed on it. Naturally I procured one, which I plan to Do Artsy Things To and then frame.

GenCon is coming up, and I have been informed that whether I can afford it or not, I am going. Which on the one hand is nice, given that folks are teaming up to pay may way... On the other hand, I really really don't like owing people things. :-/

Next week, a visit from little sis!
