Haven't gotten to take my orange belt test, but with good reason. Had to visit my grandmother (father's side) in the hospital. She went in to have back surgery in the hopes that it would let her walk without needing a walker, but now she's in the Intensive Care. She was unconscious and mostly-unresponsive (a loud noise made her flinch, so we know that at least she can hear us) until this afternoon; her eyes opened, but she still seems otherwise unable to respond.
Little Sis seemed a little shaken about all this, so while we were hanging around the hospital this afternoon/evening, I made it my business to cheer her up. This resulted in exploring the hospital, quoting bits of Yellow Submarine at each other all the while. We spent a fair amount of time at the big salt water aquarium near the waiting room. Of all the brightly-coloured fish there, we decided that the one with the most character by far was a small brown-and-white speckled fish that looked a bit like a cross between a frog and an eel with a little bit of oriental dragon mixed in. We named him Charlie Kite Dragonfish. (He looked like a Charlie, and was rather acrobatic--hence Kite, a la Being for the Benefit of Mr. Kite--and Little Sis added the Dragonfish), then went and looked at the hospital's chapel and the art hanging around. We also ate Fritos with improvised chopsticks and looked at the birds.
At any rate, they'll call me if anything changes. They'll be doing brain tests on her tomorrow...
