Apr. 3rd, 2007 01:01 amJust got back from dropping Aurey off at the train station. Aside from mom going a bit wiggy over having *gasp* another person in her house (ZOMG!!! :-O) it was a wonderful visit. We took a nice walk in the cemetery a block over from our house, and sat and talked and sang to each other under the shade of a monument that looked like a mini Greek temple. We went to my cousin's graduation party and danced a little (even though I can't dance at all well. Someday I want ballroom dancing lessons... Maybe after I get my black belt) and walked around under the apple trees for a while. The next day we went with Raney up to Greenwood to visit with her father and then went to a pagan shop and the half-priced book store. I got the second in Clive Barker's Abarat series and Neil Gaiman's Anansi Boys for under $10 altogether. I've been wanting to read both, so I'm looking forward to getting started on those. First, though, I want to read The Handmaid's Tale, which Aurey let me borrow, and which I've also been wanting to read forever. (Meanwhile he's borrowing The Anubis Gates and my copy of the JTHM Director's Cut, which he's probably reading as we speak while he waits to board his train--Gods I wish we'd been able to stay and wait with him or wait a little longer before taking him up there, but mom needed to get home to bed. *wibbles anyway*) On the way back from Greenwood, we took a drive through the country to see if we could spot any deer. Instead we saw two rainbows (one with the colour sequence backwards) and the most glorious sunset either of us had seen in ages. It had been raining off and on all day, and the clouds were low and dark with the rays of the sun shooting through here and there. It was the kind of lighting that makes the grass look amazingly green and the blooms on the redbuds look almost ultraviolet. As the sun set it turned the clouds all red and majenta and this luminescent peach-gold. Raney pulled the van over and we got out and stood in a field and watched it. Breathtaking.
In other news my cat Samhain has decided that she likes me again. She's laying in my lap and purring as we speak. ^_^
