Had a very good practice session today. Managed to get through the warm-ups without getting terribly out of breath, and during the part where we practiced our kicks, the assistant instructor decided to be sadistic when we were doing
Round Kicks and make us do as many kicks as the count. Meaning one kick on the count of one, two on two etc. and we had to do it without putting our foot back down on the ground. I was pleased to find that I can do as many as 6 without losing my balance. That's way better than I would've done a couple months ago. ^_^ I still can't do a high Pivot
Side Kick, though. I'm too short, lol. I've got the middle and the low, though, and I can almost do a front snap kick as high as my head, so that's something at least. ;-P
We also learned a string of moves called the Five Swords, in which you block a swinging attack, like if your opponent were to be swinging a club at you. After that, there are five strikes in which you deliver a chop to the side of the neck, a strike to the face, a blow to the ribs, a chop to the throat, and then break their nose. It's linked together so that your hands are in position to deliver the next strike by the time you go to make the one before it, so that it's very efficient and fast. A black belt can deliver all five strikes in literally one second. It's fascinating seeing them at work. I can't wait to advance that far.
