I think I owe some nine entries on that 30 days meme thing. :-{
Been a bit busy, of late; I went back to Indiana for a visit last week, and had a lot of fun. Went to the Indianapolis Zoo with my little sis and stepmother and one of little sis' friends. I know the zoo like the back of my hand from various school field trips over the years, and it was hot, which meant the animals were mostly sleeping, so that was so-so. (I found out, however they're getting bats next year which means I'm going to be sorely tempted to go back and see them.
The highlight of the day was getting to see the White River Gardens. They have an enormous greenhouse full of butterflies. I got a lot of pictures, but my favorite proved to be insanely camera shy. The place was full of them, and I didn't get a picture of a single one. When they're still, their wings close, and I couldn't move fast enough to snap a shot of one flying. Outside, they have a variety of lovely gardens full of trellises and flowers and fountains and I really REALLY felt like I should have a lace parasol and be wearing a bustle. The only thing missing was a proper hedge maze.
After that, we went to see How to Train your Dragon in 3-D for a dollar, and it was a really cute movie. Apparently dragons are rather like cats, when you get to know them. :-| This was all topped off by an excellent dinner at the Olive Garden.
The next day, I went hiking with Jade, over at Anderson Falls. Really it was more wading, and a little bit like swimming, in places. X-D It was wonderful. Neither of us had been there in ages. We basked in the sun, frolicked in the water, talked RP, befriended a very nice doggie and had a picnic of chicken and strawberries. It took me a while to remember how to keep my balance on all those rocks (which was kind of sad, since I used to be able to traipse around out there in flip-flops without a single slip or mishap) but I'd still do it again in a heartbeat!
In two weeks, she's going to be up for a visit, and I can't wait! There will be a trip to Chicago, and I'll show her Mitsuwa, and we'll have a fantasy movie festival, because I'm an old fogie who's seen stuff she hasn't yet. X-D
Then, I went and spent a couple of days with my friend Chaze, and we hung out and watched Claymore because it was too bloody hot to do much else. Good anime, though, and we had wine!
I may or may not have a job prospect lined up, and if it pans out I'll get to carry a gun and be making almost $20 an hour. (And that's where the glamor aspect ends, in the life of a security guard. But, hey, in this economy for that kind of money? Worth a little sweat, boredom, and long hours! And the long hours won't be all that bad, because the way they have it set up, I'd be working 12 hour days, true, but then would get three to four days off a week. This seems acceptable to me. :-?)
For now, however, I must hop off. GenCon this weekend. I must pack my costumes and ready my car.
And when I get back, oh, such plot is already in the works! Polly's dreams will have an unwelcome visitor for a change, The Will of the Abyss will be paying a visit to a certain Jack, and Break and Shelly get to argue over the pros and cons of her adopting murderous madmen! X-D
