Shoes and ships and sealing wax...

It occurs to me that there are a handful of people who've friended me since I last put in an update of any significance, and thus might not know what they've gotten themselves into.

So...

Now, with that taken care of, AN UPDATE!

The fantabulous rappingtapping is staying with me! She has pink hair and occasionally twirls for the sheer fun of it and climbs trees at night. She's lived or traveled to half of the US, and plans to take on the rest of the world. She's so adorable I wanna keep her.

Since she's arrived, we've eaten in local restaurants I've never been to, hung out in parks I didn't know were there, watched Alice in Wonderland while wearing funny hats, drinking tea and eating pastries of unusual size. We've been to the Field Museum to see the Lions of Tsavo (and ended up seeing a menagerie of other taxidermy specimens. That part of the museum is an eerie, sad, fascinating place.) walked by Lake Michigan, walked arm-in-arm through the rain, and followed a magic disappearing rabbit down into a hole (no, that is not a euphemism for taking drugs :-P), gotten lost on the way to Mitsuwa while listening to swing music (but we still got our Japanese booze and ice cream and then ate at a fancy Greek restaurant, so it was still all cool), played with frizbees and had a picnic under the tree in the back yard.

It' the most fun I've had IRL in quite a while. ^_^

The Job is still telemarketing, and not quite so many people have been hanging up on me. However, since so many of the calls have entailed being sure that people recieved the fax or catalog or whathaveyou I sent out to them, I'm starting to feel like Peter Potamus. :-|

All that considered, it is understandable to everyone but my mother that I generally don't want to go near a phone when I'm off work. She, of course, has to take it personally and make it as dramatic and unpleasant as possible when she calls me. *siiiiiighs* And people wonder why I'm inclined to keep my phone turned off half the time.

Anyway!  I'm headed outside to pester rappingtapping , as she decided to mow and rake our lawn despite our assurances that guests didn't need to do things like that.
