Silence

PISCES (Feb. 19-March 20): In her column "Word Fugitives" in *The Atlantic,* Barbara Wallraff asked her readers to coin terms or phrases that would mean "the unfortunate telling of a story that one realizes too late is ill-suited to the occasion." The best ideas were "blabberghasted," "tale of whoa," and "put my faux paw in my mouth." I'll warn you to be wary of this behavior in the coming week, Pisces. You're likely to be unusually articulate, and your urge to express yourself may be extraordinarily pressing. That could make you susceptible to running your mouth. But as long as you monitor yourself for signs that you're about to go too far, I bet your fluency will serve you very well.

Well, it looks like my mantra from the Brezsny survey will come in handy, then. /:-) I particularly like "blabberghasted"...

I don't generally have recurring dreams, but I do tend to have a couple of recurring locations. One is a lot like this world, only darker, more waterlogged and decayed. Everything is a little bit creepy, and I generally tend to encounter things that aren't exactly alive (like the drowned children who climbed out of a washing machine that was somehow connected to the hull of a sunken oceanliner to chase me, or the weird, pale, silent, water-dwelling elves who have krill-plates instead of teeth and really don't like people encroaching on their territory), but I'm always fascinated by the place. So far, I've explored an assylum, an abandoned mall, and a seaside town where the sizeable Red Light District is set aside for Haiku poetry rather than prostitution.

The second place is a very bright and prosperous city which I always wind up connecting to Bloomington, for some reason. This is probably because there's a lot of culture and art and higher learning going on. Generally, when I'm wandering around there, I find that I can fly.

Seeing all of that white makes my Gypsy blood growl. There's a lot I need to see.
