And what did we learn today, children?
May. 11th, 2009 09:05 pmBeing as I had last night off, I tried to get extra sleep so that I could get an early start, today. It didn't really work very well. I think I may have gotten four hours total, and that was with sleeping two hours later than I'd really wanted to... :-/ Bloody insomnia. Always hits at the worst times.
Anyway, I took my sculptures to Little Nashville, today. The first gallery I went to, the woman was just closing, but she directed me to a second one. It was a little place, but full of nice things. The little old lady working there seemed a little bemused by the whole animals-with-human-faces concept, but she was very helpful. Apparently, anyone who wants their work in the gallery has to have it voted in by the other artists showing there, so she's holding onto three pieces (the Sphinx, the fish, and the purple dragonfly) and will call me Friday with the results. With any luck, I'm about to have my work on display. :-) If not, there's always the other gallery that I didn't make it to today, or one of the shops in Bloomington.
I was going to take my last dragonfly to one of the Bloomington shops, but I decided to stop for a sandwich and some couscous, as I hadn't eaten yet... It was very tastey, but then the sammich got its revenge by sort of exploding on me. It didn't seem to make for a good impression to show up at a gallery, sleep deprived, dripping with marinated chicken and hummus and say "HAI! DUZ YOU LIKE MY ARTS?" So, I decided to call it a day and come home... Also, shower.
If worse comes to worse, there's always Etsy. I've been meaning to start a shop on there anyway.
