Booga-booga!
Feb. 5th, 2009 03:58 amGet this. There is no temperature difference between the lobby and the fridge where we keep things for the continental breakfast... Wow.
On the bright side, I've been watching one of my favourite horror movies. A little-known independent jewel called Session 9. It's pretty low-gore. There are almost no special effects. They take a page from some of the best scary stories, and you never actually see the "monster" so much as its impact on those sharing its environment. And yet, between the atmosphere, the location, and some damn good acting and writing, it's one of the most delightfully creepy movies I've had the pleasure of seeing. I cuddle it.
It's one of those weird stories that manages to be simple and complex at the same time, telling the tale of a Hazmat crew working to remove asbestos from an abandoned insane asylum (A real one. Gorgeous place, unfortunately now demolished--but the bit about the fires makes me wonder if something got left behind that didn't much like the building's demise. >:-D) and how their experiences in the building unravel them. It's subtle enough that it leaves itself open for interpretation, as to whether it's a tale of insanity with metaphores for the darkness within us all, or insanity, haunting, and possession. If you like horror that makes you think and wonder rather than telling you everything, I highly recommend it.
I think I shall try to tempt
