I can has foxiness, pls?
Aug. 7th, 2008 01:44 amSo, I have only had three hours of sleep, today. This is because I had to get up early to do a bit of galavanting with my cousin, which included placing orders for the kimono and corset that will help make up the kitsune costume I plan to wear to Matsuricon. I also ransacked the local Hobby Lobby for the makings for a tail and ears, and then we went to a nearby Indian restaurant for Chicken Korma and garlic nan. *drools* I need more.
With all of these kitsune-related goings on, I thought it was a nifty coincidence that it rained while the sun was shining. In Japanese folklore, this is known as a kitsune no yomeiri or kitsune's wedding. ^_^
The tail is complete, and I'm quite pleased with it, given that I've never made one before. It looks better than any of the ones I found for sale online. I think what I'll do is add a new one for each con I wear the costume to. It'll be like getting a merit badge. By the time I attend my ninth, I'll be all-powerful and enlightened, and my uniform will be cooler than anything a girl scout ever wore, too. :-| Further additions as I go and can afford them will be a parasol and fan, authentic Geisha make-up, a mask for when I don't feel like messing with the make-up, and possibly even a decent quality katsura. (Hey, if it's worth doing, it's worth doing right. I just wish my wallet agreed...)
I'm actually not sure whether the kimono will be delivered in time, being as it's custom, so I'm contemplating a backup plan for just in case... I'm also thinking that, when I can, it's about time I invested in a pair of contacts for these occasions, as specs don't really go with the look.
Also, since so many people have noticed the odd tension thing mentioned in my last post, I'm inclined to think perhaps it's not entirely a coincidence, and wonder what the bloodyhell has been going on. :-?
