litharriel: (horned matron)

Well, there's good news: my cousin's leg is on the mend, so it's likely she'll get to keep it. Huzzah, huzzah, and there was much rejoicing!

Due to the snow last night I ended out not being able to even get to work, so I had a quiet night at home instead, did some meditation, general mental spring cleaning, and am presently enjoying a groovey, "que sera sera" kind of mood. I don't expect it'll last, but for the moment, it's pleasant.

My brother J. and his wife A. phoned me, tonight, and we talked for a couple of hours. It was really wonderful getting to actually talk to a couple of kindred spirits. I've missed that a lot, over the past month or so, missed it painfully and terribly. It wasn't the same as when my other brother C. was around (I still miss that boy.), but it was still pretty great. :-D

There's a program on the History Channel, right now, showing how the world would change if all human life were to suddenly disappear. There are all of these computer generated scenes of structures collapsing into rubble and nature reclaiming our towers of glass and stone, and it makes me feel warm and tingley in a vaguely misanthropic sort of way, and it made my think of Shelley...

OZYMANDIAS
by P.B. Shelley

I met a traveller from an antique land
Who said: Two vast and trunkless legs of stone
Stand in the desert. Near them on the sand,
Half sunk, a shatter'd visage lies, whose frown
And wrinkled lip and sneer of cold command
Tell that its sculptor well those passions read
Which yet survive, stamp'd on these lifeless things,
The hand that mock'd them and the heart that fed.
And on the pedestal these words appear:
"My name is Ozymandias, king of kings:
Look on my works, ye Mighty, and despair!"
Nothing beside remains: round the decay
Of that colossal wreck, boundless and bare,
The lone and level sands stretch far away.

Show Narrator *dark and sinister*: "Welcome to Earth... Population zero."
Me: Ooh, tell me more, you impetuous beast
