litharriel: (Great Pumpkin)

Halloween Kitty

Joy to the world,
It's Halloween.
The night of fright has come!
This time of year we wait.
We hope he won't be late.
The Great Pumpkin will come,
The Great Pumpkin will come,
The Great, The GREAT Pumpkin will come.

He rules the world,
On Hallow's Eve.
He's coming here tonight.
Let's go into the pumpkin patch
They'll put us in the booby hatch,
But we will have such fun,
But we will have such fun,
But we, But we will have such fun!

Yessir, it's that time of year again, and as always I am taking the whole month to celebrate. >;-) Happy holidays, all!

20 Years Ago, I...
1) was 6 years old, gearing up for halloween. I believe I was She-Ra that year...
2) was in 1st grade. Our classroom was a little trailer separated slightly from the rest of the school.
3) decided to be a cartoonist when I grew up. I wanted to make animated music videos for Beatles songs.

15 Years Ago, I...
1) was in 6th grade.
2) read the Lord of the Rings and the Hobbit for the first time. (Though Mom used to read The Hobbit to me when I was little.)
3) decided I'd rather be a writer.

10 Years Ago, I...
1) was in my Sophomore year of highschool.
2) was staying after school for torture----that is tutoring in Algebra when a tornado came through, broke a few windows and killed the football field.
3) impressed my Psychology teacher during an exercise when we were pretending to investigate Jack the Ripper, when I was able to determine that the killer was right-handed. This also creeped out my peers, because I explained that I'd put myself in the killer's place to figure it out. :-P

5 Years Ago, I...
1) was working here for my second year.
2) surprised two guys attempting to break into the place, scared them badly enough that they ricocheted around the little entryway for a full ten seconds before finding the door and one of them leaving a perfect handprint on it, which led to their capture by the police.
3) I think this was the year I saw Tool live.

2 Years Ago, I...
1) divorced my ex-husband.
2) began my relationship with Aurey, which flourishes to this day :-*
3) moved into a room at the hotel, here, where I lived for about a year.

1 Year Ago, I...
1) accompanied Aurey to get his first tattoo.
2) began studying Taekwondo
3) moved in with Mom

So far this year, I've...
1) gotten my orange belt in Taekwondo.
2) made lots of jewelry.
3) decided to get back into writing.

Yesterday, I...
1) watched The Boondock Saints
2) took a nap
3) worked a bit on the Midnight Circus game.

Today, I...
1) drove at night for the first time.
2) decorated my LJ for Halloween
3) watched Fight Club.

Tomorrow, I'll...
1) hang out with H for a bit and learn more Kiao'ken (sp?).
2) drive at night for the second time.
3) likely work with Aurey on our Secrets of the Past RPG.

To Speaker Pelosi:

We are disturbed that the Congressional leadership has decided to eliminate transgender people from the latest version of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act (ENDA). LGBT organizations and allies have been working for years to pass a bill that protects gay, lesbian, bisexual and transgender employees alike. The decision to split the bill into two new pieces of legislation – one for sexual orientation and another for gender identity – threatens to divide our community.

We oppose any version of the Employment Non-Discrimination Act that does not include both sexual orientation and gender identity. Transgender people are among the most marginalized and vulnerable groups within the LGBT community. In a 2006 survey of transgender people conducted by the Transgender Law Center, 57% reported being discriminated against in employment and 60% earned less than $15,300 per year. The entire country has an interest in seeing the transgender community thrive in the national economy. Without protection against discrimination, that is nearly impossible.

We commend you on your history of service to the LGBT community. We now call upon you to remain consistent in your efforts to help the entire LGBT community. Please stay true to your commitment to an ENDA that includes both gender identity and sexual orientation.

Please sign.

My comment:  Everybody deserves protection, including the transgendered.  To deny equal rights to these people is not only unjust, but unamerican. Think of the just place that America is supposed to be and go for that, people!  I don't want my country to be a mockery of itself anymore.  This place used to stand for something other than pleasing Fundamentalists or corporate bigwigs.

Which sorry excuse of a Muppet are you?
