H. (second shift guy) showed me a bit more of his martial art (approximate spelling Kaio'kein). I now know a move from which I can either break my opponent's arm, throw them over my shoulder, or trip them and throw them a different way. I also know that front snapkicks are not generally a good kick to throw at someone. (Which sucks, too, as I'd gotten to be pretty good at them.) He demonstrated why they're not the best kick by blocking and catching my foot mid-kick and landing me directly on my ass. :-| It was fun. ^_^ I'm now learning a different kick that is supposed to work better.
I've also come to realize that I'm going to miss the bats. This summer, I'd noticed that I could watch them catching bugs around some of the street lights late at night. (Some of their wingspans were quite impressive!). But I haven't seen them for the past few nights, so I suspect they've moved south to warmer climes. *sighs* Until next year, my fuzzy friends!
