Native to Africa and Australia, baobab trees are oddly beautiful, with thick, bulbous trunks that can grow partially hollow and thus serve as shelters for people and animals. They have an enormous capacity for storing water, allowing them to survive during draughts. Humans carve and paint their fruits, making them into ornaments, and also use their leaves, fruits, and bark for food and drink. The tree's large white flowers open only at night, and are pollinated by bats. In all these ways, you remind me of a baobab right now, Pisces. You're freakishly gorgeous, have enormous staying power and hundreds of uses, are a rich source of nourishment and comfort, and bloom under the moonlight, when you do your best collaborative work.
Well... gee... *blushes*
To update, the test was ludicrously easy, as they didn't make us do the Killer Calisthenics. I was a little surprised, and I will admit a little disappointed. It just doesn't feel like a proper test unless you're certain you're going to drop over dead after.
So I've got the gold belt, but I don't feel like I earned it. *pouts*..... This leads me to think that I'm more masochistic than I previously realized... :-?
Oh, on the subject of belts, Master Gambrel told us an interesting story of how the Black Belt came about. In Tae Kwon Do (I'm not sure about other martial arts) it's traditionally against the rules to wash one's belt, and in the old days there were not different colours to indicate a student's progress. So, back then, you knew you were up against a master if their belt (which started out white) was black with grime because they'd been practicing Tae Kwon Do for so long. Spiffy, eh? /:-)
