Here and I was thinking I wouldn't get to post tonight! (LJ's been playing silly buggers again. :-P)
It's gloriously, blissfully quiet here, tonight, as the pub next door is closed. You know what that means? No listening to drunk people sing Karaoke! 8-D I'm more than halfway through with Hannibal Rising, and have new material for when I'm done. (Yeah, yeah, two books I have no room for on my poor shelf. >_<) I've got both Clive Barker's biography, and a book called Gifts waiting in the wings, and I'm itching to get to both of them. Clive Barker is right up there with Neil Gaiman in my eyes, and anyone familiar with his work will know why. Calling him simply a horror writer is vastly selling him short. (Not that there's anything at all wrong with horror, mind, I adore horror.) Clive Barker is a master of dark fantasy. His version of the fae in Weaveworld, his tales of Quiddity the Dream-sea in The Great and Secret Show and Everville. He never fails to enchant. And I've never read anything by the author of Gifts, but it looked decidedly intriguing, and I've heard good things about the Earthsea books.
Working further with Aurey on the rewrites for SotP. I love this game, truly I do. And I can't wait to finish with the backstory and resume proper playing again. That'll mean I can focus more on my own character Nazirah and the developing romance there. The very thought sets me awriggle. I'm rapacious for it! We've been sneaking in a bit of writing along that arc for future use, but I can't wait until we're really in the swing of it. I've always loved a good bit of RP, but it's so much better having a proper partner for it! It's marvelous to have someone to bouce ideas off of and conspire with. Dread and Terrible, Dark and Sadistic Gods of Game are we. >:-) (Mostly toward the characters we pilot, admittedly, though we do sometimes find a little glee in wondering what the readers think. ^_^ ) And it's so lovely working with someone who really knows how to write! (It's damn hard to find that in the RP community, and we're looking, believe me. We'll need new players soon.)
But, ah, the game's a'calling. Must run! >:-)
