Food for thought...
Aug. 2nd, 2006 06:29 amI recently read Friedrich de la Motte Fouque's fairytale Undine. I was familiar with the bones of the story before from Celtic mythology, but this German respinning was rather poignant, to me. Putting the link, here, and likely going to post the thing in entirety at
the_domus_mundi... The translation I have here is slightly different from the one I have on my shelf, but none theless....
Undine, thou image fair and blest,
Since first thy strange mysterious glance,
Shone on me from some old romance,
How hast thou sung my heart to rest!
