So, my cousin Raney came down to hang out today. We grabbed some food and headed out to the wildlife preserve to enjoy the nature. It was pleasantly cool and sprinkled on us a bit, but not enough to make us abandon our picnic nice table by the little pond behind the visitor center. As we were sitting there eating, a deer came out of the woods about fifty feet off and started to cross the road on the way to wherever deer go, then paused noticing us.

Then it actually came toward us!

We both sat very still, tossed "Can you believe this?" glances at each other and did our best to stay quiet. Step by step, the deer edged its way toward us as if it couldn't quite figure out what we were. Then, when it got within thirty or twenty feet of us, it stamped the ground a couple of times, made three rather insulted hissing sounds, blowing air out of it's nostrils at us, and ran off into the woods, apparently realizing that we were people (ugh!) ;-P

So, all in all, nifty day /:-)

Cirque du Soleil (French for "Circus of the Sun") is an entertainment empire based in Montréal, Quebec, Canada and founded in Quebec in 1984 by 2 former street performers, Guy Laliberté and Daniel Gauthier.

It has been described as the modern circus, and focuses upon a storyline as well as amazing performances. It has several resident and touring troupes and draws heavily from the circus tradition. Emphasizing the use of humans as performers, Cirque du Soleil does not make use of animals. Instead, its performances combine elements of street performances, circus, opera, ballet, and rock music. Acts include contortionists, jugglers, feats of strength, clowning, and trapeze artists. Their costumes are very colorful and creative, setting a festive and lively atmosphere. Also, Cirque shows do not use pre-recorded music; all music is played live.
