Mom came down to hang out today. I think this is the first time in a couple months we've hung out. We went out for Chinese and they had this music playing over the PA, y'know, like in every Chinese restaurant. There was this fella singing this rather pretty, soothing song, but every now and then he'd hit this note that made him sound exactly like the Cowardly Lion from Wizard of Oz... Needless to say we did a lot of laughing over dinner.
On the way back to the apartment we were singing "If I Were King of the Forest" and Mom started singing it in a Chinese accent. I know it's not very PC but I almost died laughing. You should've heard her; it really was funny!
So, in honor of my Mother and the mysterious Chinese Troubador...
If I Were King of the Forest
If I were King of the Fore-e-e-e-e-e-e-e-st,
Not Queen, not Duke, not Prrrince.
My regal robes of the fore-e-e-e-e-e-e-st
Would be satin, not cotton, not chintz.
I'd command each thing, be it fish or fowl,
With a woof and a woof, and a royal grrowl--woof.
As I'd click my heel,
All the trees would kneel
And the mountains bow,
And the bulls kowtow,
And the sparrow would take wiiiiiing
'F--I ... 'f ... I ... were Kiiinnng.
Each rabbit would show respect to me.
The chipmunks genuflect to me.
Though my tail would lash,
I would show compash
For every underling,
'F--I ... 'f ... I ... were Kiinng--
Just Kiinng.

Hmmm, frosty... ;-P

You are like snow--unique, playful, seductive, yet
still somehow innocent and soft. It is true
that at times you can be anti-social and be
your own best friend, but you are not
impassable like ice. It is also true that you
do not trust easily but that is more of a
precaution than because of past experiences,
and if you find someone you love, you give all
your trust to them. Around your few privileged
friends, you are very fun and always the one to
come up with a brilliant plan (whether a
solution to a friend's problem or simply a
fantastic, fun way to spend the day). While you
occasionally feel as though you need to get
away from the world and seclude yourself from
people, you possess the rare ability to get
over it rather quickly and forgive; give second
chances. Much like the ocean, people either
adore you and long for you with all of their
hearts or hate you bitterly. Those who hate you
probably find you difficult (you can be
stubborn sometimes) or are just the no-nonsense
type who cannot take a joke. You can be
sensitive, but try not to let those people
affect you. Remember that those who love you
are so much more important and that you are an
amazing person at heart!
What aspect of water are you?
