The other day while I was out squandering my paycheck, I baught the latest issue of Gothic Beauty, largly because it had the magic words "Neil" and "Gaiman" on the cover. The article was good, but there were two others that thoroughly fascinated me. The first one was on the Marchesa Luisa Casati. I seem to recall vaguely hearing of her once before, but I had no idea she was such an interesting person! Apparently she was the posterchild for decadence in the 20's. She wore live snakes as jewelry, kept cheetah's as pets, and her servants were often "dressed" in gold leaf.
Another one that piqued my interest was an article on the dark erotic photography of John Santerineross. He has an excellent site where you can view his work and buy books of it. ~Very~ nice! Next time I have money to spend, I'm getting one of his books. There's also a biography of Casati entitled /Infinite Variety: the Life and Legend of the Marchesa Casati/ which I shall have to find...
