Butterflies and curried chicken
Dec. 5th, 2004 05:27 amMo, that is, my friend Melissa, decided to go shopping today... well, technically yesterday. She works at a factory, makes quite a bit and hasn't had a chance to spend any. (Incidentally, you wouldn't know she was a factory girl. She's a dainty lil thing, looks like the more human-looking Faery women that Froud paints--as does her mother and younger sister. Personality-wise, she's another Small Fierce Woman. Of course, those are the best kind.) Anyway, she decided she'd go to Bloomington, and that I'd go with her.
Now, for those of you who don't know: Bloomington is my Mecca... Well, within the state of Indiana, anyway. College town, lots of culture and diversity, a bit hippyish, but in a good way. We walked down Kirkwood street and looked at the shops. There are ~lots~ of good shops. Found Tori Amos' Little Earthquakes for $6 (my original copy got stolen). Went into Athena's (one of my favorites) and found a lovely necklace. It's got this beautiful piece of iridescent blue-green-purple glass with the outline of a butterfly painted on it in black, pretty beads on either side. Mo, being a darling, decided that I had to have it. :-D
Slipped back to 4th street, where all the best little restaurants are. Ate at the Little Tibet, which is run by relations of the Dali Lama. They have the BEST yellow curry with chicken. I could eat it every other day for the rest of my life and be perfectly happy.
Oh sweet Dia-na-Glas, I miss living there! I wish we could move...
